The letter below regarding the Careers Wales Mark: Continuous Quality Improvement has been sent from Careers Wales Mid Glamorgan & Powys Chief Executive to Senior managers in Schools & Colleges.
I would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to the Careers Wales Mark: Continuous Quality Improvement, which has been introduced following the success of the previous Careers Wales Quality Award.
There were a number of factors that led to the decision to design a new award. Firstly, because the CWQA linked to the two previous frameworks for Careers Education and Guidance and Work Related Education which were replaced in 2008 by the Careers and the World of Work framework. In addition, there was a need for an award which met current national standards and in particular the ‘learning core’ of the 14-19 Learning Pathways. It also supports Estyn’s drive to build capacity for self-evaluation and improvement.
The Mark has completed its pilot phase and is now available to learning providers where 11 to 19 –year-olds are being educated including; secondary schools, further education colleges, special schools, off-site units and training providers.
Careers Wales Mid Glamorgan and Powys is able to provide consultancy support to those establishments wishing to achieve the Mark. If you would like further details please contact one of the following:
